Most of us still didn’t get our hands on the long awaited mid-range version of Tesla’s EV, with several reasons behind it. One is the production difficulties which the company is facing from the beginning of this venture, the other is more connected to the internal politics of the company. Regardless of that, at this point the only thing we can do is hold our thumbs for the future of the company, since we’re slowly, but surely, getting even cheaper mid-range cars, with the new and more affordable model as the today’s example.

For $10.000 less then the previous model, the new Tesla 3 now offers 260 miles on a single charge, with a top speed of 125 mph and 5.6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. There is also a change in the amount of motors which you will find within the car, going from a dual motor all-wheel drive to a single motor rear wheel drive.  Although this seems like quite a drop in performance when compared to the initial model, keep in mind that you’re now paying $45.000 instead of $55.000 for it.

“Our new mid-range battery is being introduced this week in the US and Canada to better meet the varying range needs of the many customers eager to own Model 3, and our delivery estimate for customers who have ordered the Standard Battery is 4-6 months.” – said a spokesperson at Tesla.

With that in mind, the holders of the reservation can’t expect their car before February next year, which means that they will also not be eligible for the federal tax credit to which the Tesla owners got used to. The amount which was around $7,500 for this year, will go down to $3,750 starting with the year 2019., and will go even lower to $1,875 on July 1st 2019.
